Sarah's Photo Challenge

So I was just reading my friend Sarah's blog and she is doing a photo challenge her friend gave her. You go to where you store you photo files and go to your 6th folder and pick the 6th picture...Personally I would have picked the 7th folder and picture, but it's not my challenge. *wink.
.
Since Sarah seems to hate tagging people and leaves an open tag
I decided to see what picture it would be.

This is it. Maggie, Clay and Flat Stanley. (I think it was my nephew Sam's Flat Stanely, but since we have had a few visits with various Flat Stanelys I am not completely sure whose it was). We were visiting the trains at Travel Town.
.
Since I wasn't officially tagged, I will tag Sarah style. If you feel like participating please leave a note in my coments so I can be sure to check it out. (Heather aka Just Heather you can consider yourself tagged so you can dust off you poor blog! *smooches* )

Ice Skating Ethan

Hopefully this will work. I am new to trying to upload videos, but I need to try and get this up because it made me smile. Yesterday Ethan did not have school due to teacher conferences (which he got a good review at! Yipee!) So we went out for lunch and on the way home Seth fell asleep. Since it was almost time for the bus to come Ethan chose to play outside while Seth & I waited in the car. I couldn't help smiling when I looked out the car window and saw something like this:

I think he needs to be on a moving poster with the title of perseverance. He had so much fun even though he fell about 1000 times!

Sketch Challenge 210

Another week has gone by and here is another challenge card completed.
Here is the inspiration:
Here is my interpretation:
I am really excited by how this turned out. I am loving my new Sweet Stems set! Once again the layering does not show properly in the card. The flowers are stamped on watercolor paper and layered with Cameo Coral and Old Olive panels. The Very Vanilla base is stamped with the leaves from the Embrace Life set. The middle panel is stamped with an Itty Bitty Background stamp and layered on a Chocolate Chip panel.
.
Hope you like it.

Materials Used: SU Paper: Old Olive, Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip; SU Ink: Old, Olive, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, Chocolate Chip, Basic Gray; SU Stamp Sets: Sweet Stems, Embrace Life, Itty Bitty Backgrounds; Other: Watercolor Paper, SU Dimensionals.

Sketch Challenge 209

Another Week and I have finally gotten to another to another sketch challenge!
This is the sketch, SCS sketch challenge #209:
.
And here is my interpretation:
.

I am really liking the cameo coral & ruby red combo lately! I only wish that the embrace life leaf stamp showed up better in the picture. Unfortunately, the Garden Green under the watercolor paper looks like it is gray in this picture. One day I may get a better camera or learn to be a better photographer. Unfortunately, that day isn't today. *wink

Materials Used: SU Ink: Cameo Coral, Ruby Red, Garden Green, Basic Gray; SU Paper: Very Vanilla, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Garden Green; SU Stamps: Sanded, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Much Appreciated, Sweet Stems, Embrace Life; Other: watercolor paper, Dimensionals.

CheapSkate

Today our Mom's club took advantage of the 'cheapskate' at our local ice arena.
For $5. you got your skate rental and an hour and a half of ice time. It was very fun, even if I am sore today! I spent all but 2 turns holding Sethy
(& I was holding Ethans hand for 1 1/2 of those. *wink)

Sethy getting used to his skates.
(Maggie was nice enough to take this picture for us.)
.
Maggie had a grand time. Unfortunately, I have no good pictures because she was mostly with her friends and their parents would rather not have their pictures on the internet.
.

Ethan had a great time zooming around. My friend Chris, was nice enough to help him around. He actually got around more times than I did!
.

Seth & I skating away...can you tell why I was sore today!
..

The kids can't wait for March when the Girl Scouts have their skate night. I think they will have more confidence because we just went.

We have snow...

Or at least we had it for a few hours.
.
On Thursday I woke up to the sound of the phone at 6:15am. Why you ask, to tell me that school was delayed for an hour. The first thing I did was go Maggie's room and turned off her new alarm clock. (The poor kid woke up and saw light outside and thought for sure we overslept and she would be late for school.) It was great to get an extra hour of sleep, but quite frankly, it was a little silly considering the amount of snow we got.
.
.
.
Oh Yeah~ Have I mentioned that we got ~at most~ 1/8th of an inch! Ethan had fun, but was a little disappointed that he couldn't build a snowman. For the record, this was the first snowfall that has stuck this season. I really feel for all of you that have tons already.

Sketch Challenge 208

I was lucky enough to get some more stamping time this week. Yipee!
.
I used SCS Card Sketch #208 as my inspriation.

These are my final versions. I like the overall look of the card on the left better, but I do like how the flowers turned out when I colored the stamp with my SU markers.

These were my original versions and I was not satisifed with them...so I pried them up and added the white card base. Let me just say that the SU gluestick is much stickier than the Mono-adhesive that I usually use. I guess that is why I changed to the Gluestick. *wink*

Materials Usedfor the Card on the Left: SU Paper: Whisper White, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Certainly Celery, Certainly Clerey Designer Paper; SU Ink: Cameo Coral;
SU Stamp Set: Upsy Daisy
.
Materials Used for the Card on the Right: SU Paper: Whisper White, Apricot Appeal Designer Paper, Glorious Green, Cameo Coral; SU Ink: Lavender Lace, Glorious Green, Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral; SU Stamp Sets: Upsy Daisy;

Sketch Challenge 207

So my New Years Resolution is to complete a sketch challenge each week. So far 2 weeks in I have 1 card done...I am behind already. *sigh*

So here is the layout.
The Challenge can be found here if you are interested.
.
Here is my result. I bought this set when it first was previewed and I am sad to say that it is the first time I have used it. I am liking the colors. I used my SU markers to ink the stamp and I think it works very well. I think it needs something, but as I am already a week and a half late with it, I kept it simple.
.
Materials Used: SU Ink: Cameo Coral, Ruby Red, Garden Green; SU Paper: Ruby Red, Garden Green, Very Vanilla; SU Stamp Sets: Upsy Daisy
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you liked it.

Rambling Family post

Yesterday and my Mischeious Boy
.
Yesterday I went today to try and sign Seth up for preschool in the fall. I am not sending him where Ethan goes because it is just too expensive ($225 for 2 three hour days a week). Two of my friends go to a Presbyterian Preschool that offers 3 three hour days for $185-much better IMHO. So yesterday was the day for new applicants so I get Maggie off on the bus and drive over. I get there a little before 8am and no one is there, so I patiently wait...8:05 still no one else there....8:10 hello, no one there.....8:15-the time it was supposed to begin- I break out my cell phone. The phone is answered:
.
Me: "I thought today is the morning to register for new preschool families."
.
Lady on the phone: "It was, but we posponed it until Monday."
.
Me: confused, "huh"?
.
LOTP: You are outside aren't you?
.
Me: "Yep"
.
LOTP: I'll be right there?
.
door opens...
.
Lady at the door: What class are you interested in?
.
Me: "The one that already has a wait list- the 3's"...
.
She was kind enough to take my application. Seth is #2 on the wait list. She offered to put him in the 3/4 class but since he will turn 3 in August I didn't think that would work for him.
.
Now we wait. I have decided to not try and register him anywhere else and leave this in Gods hands. Either way it will be fine. Either he will end up in class with 2 friends or he will not go to preschool & I will not have to freak about him being potty trained right after he turns 3 and I'll save a bit of coin.
.
Ok, back to my Mischevious boy. Maggie has the Powder Puff Derby race today. (Girl Scouts doing the Pinewood derby after the boys and parents. Yep, you read that right, the parents of the boys and girls get a chance to do their own cars this year and race against each other-What a brilliant idea!!!) Anyway Maggie & Clay were working on their cars Thursday night and he left them on the counter-alnog with the paint. You see where this is going don't you??? So I get home and the place smells like paint. I figured Clay painted on his car while he was waiting for me. Umm, No. Seth opened the black paint and painted the counter, chair, floor, Clay's car and Maggies decoration puppies. Luckily it came off most eveything, except Maggie's dogs are now black labs.
.
Sorry no picture because Clay cleaned it up before I got home.

Blog Candy

Wow, three posts in one day! I wanted to make sure you all knew about the Blog Candy my friend Cindy is giving away. Here is the link, you should check it out anyway, because she has some great stuff on it!

Say Cheese

I just wanted to share this picture of the family.
Don't you just love Seth's chessy smile?

Snowmen Fun

So my sister pointed out to me yesterday that it has been FOR-EV-ER since my last post. Sadly enough it has and I don't even have a good excuse. Since I have not stamped since before Christmas, I will share this snowmen card I made for my God-daughter for Christmas. It took almost 2 weeks to make it from here to Chicago where she is. Thankfully, I didn't need to resend the gift card that was inside.
It is a trifold card. I used the brads to keep the bottom fold in place. The green panel and snowmen panel lift up with the top fold and the i tunes gift card slipped nicely in the pocket. I had another panel in the inside, but I can't remember what I stamped on that...yep I have no memory! *wink*
Materials Used: SU Paper: Old Olive, Always Artichoke; SU ink: Basic Gray, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Cameo Coral; Other: SU Brads, Watercolor paper
