True Christmas Spirit

As the Christmas season begins and our lives get more Crazy, I just wanted to remind us all what it is really all about. This came in my inbox and I love it. I am still finishing up my Christmas Cards, so Hopefully I will have something new on Monday.
.
Have a Great Weekend!

A DIFFERENT TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Author Unknown
Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the town
Not a sign of Baby Jesus
was anywhere to be found.

The people were all busy
with Christmas time chores
Like decorating, and baking,
and shopping in stores.

No one sang "Away in a manger,
no crib for a bed."
Instead, they sang of Santa
dressed-up in bright red.

Mama watched Martha Stewart,
Papa drank beer from a tap.
As hour upon hour
the presents they'd wrap.

When what from the TV
did they suddenly hear?
'Cept an ad. Which told
of a big sale at Sears.

So away to the mall
they all flew like a flash...
Buying things on credit ...
and others with cash!

And, as they made their way home
From their trip to the mall,
Did they think about Jesus?
Oh, no ... not at all.

Their lives were so busy
with their Christmas time things
No time to remember
Christ Jesus, the King.

There were presents to wrap
and cookies to bake.
How could they stop and remember
who died for their sake?

To pray to the Savior...
they had no time to stop.
Because they needed more time
to "Shop til they dropped!"

On Wal-mart! On K-mart!
On Target! On Penney's!
On Hallmark! On Zales!
A quick lunch at Denny's.

From the big stores downtown
to the stores at the mall.
They would dash away, dash away,
and visit them all!

And up on the roof,
there arose such a clatter.
As grandpa hung icicle lights
up on his brand new step ladder.

He hung lights that would flash.
He hung lights that would twirl.
Yet, he never once prayed to Jesus...
Light of the World.

Christ's Eyes... how they twinkle!
Christ's Spirit... how merry!
Christ's Love... how enormous!
All our burdens... He'll carry!

So instead of being busy,
overworked, and uptight.
Let's put Christ back in
Christmas and enjoy
some good nights!

Merry Christmas, My Friends!

Stamp-a-Stack Cards

I had a great time last night at my Stamp-a-Stack event. We made 5 cards of each of the following designs. It was so much fun. If you are in the area come by next time. *wink*

This card is my favorite. I love the double scallop on the bottom! The Snow Swirled set is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I was also able to use my new Classic Stripes background stamp. I used the Gelly Roll Glitter Pen on the snowflakes in the tree. *This looks better in person than in my photo*
.
Materials Used: SU Paper: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White; SU Ink: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke; SU Stamp Sets: Snow Swirled, Classic Stripes background stamp; Other: Gelly Roll Glitter Pen

This is the second card design. On this card I was able to use my other new background stamp, Sanded. I have been eyeing this one for a long time and finally broke down and bought it. I am so glad that I did! The 'merry christmas!' and tree stamp are from the very versatile Loads of Love Set. When I first got that stamp I cut the merry christmas! and the wishing you loads of holiday cheer! apart and double mounted it.

Materials Used: SU Paper: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red Designer Paper; SU Ink: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive; SU Stamps: Loads of Love, Sanded.

Moving Day

I really *Love* this color combo! A friend of mine recently moved & I thought this would be the perfect welcome to their new home. The layout is from SCS Sketch Challenge #166. I think if I were to do it again I would put the truck on a panel with borders. Overall I am happy with the finished product. I hope you like it too. As always Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave your comments. I live for positive feedback. *wink*

Scallop Medallion

A few weeks ago Splitcoast had a tutorial on how to make a Scallop Edge Medallion. Seeing as how I already owned the Scallop Edge Punch I couldn't resist trying my hand at it. It worked very easily. It is nice to follow good instructions, so a Big Thank You to Alesha Walls for the great tutorial.
.
Ever see a technique and wonder how it was done? Well, chances are there is a tutorial at SCS to show you how. If you ever get some extra time on your hands I highly recommend checking out the Resource Pages at SCS.
.
As always, Thanks for checking in. I hope you enjoyed your visit. *wink*

Boys Fall

I just couldn't resist showing a couple of pictures of the boys playing outside last week.
Seth running with glee!

What could be more perfect than playing in leaves with your brother? Does anyone else get cuteness overload when looking at this picture?

Star of the week: Ethan

Ethan was star of the week last week at preschool. He got to bring Dumbo home with us last weekend (since he is in the Elephant class). We had a pretty casual weekend. Ethan & Dumbo played Legos, played outside and snuggled a lot.
Outside fun

Rockin' Out

Road Trip
What a fun weekend. *wink.

A Birthday Cupcake for Becky

As I mentioned last time I have been spending a lot of time with Girl Scout paperwork the last couple of weeks. Thankfully, I seem to be caught up. (For now. *wink*) I was actually able to ink some stamps on Wednesday to make my sister a birthday card. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at preschool, so I am finally posting the results.
Becky loves purple so I knew that I would use that. I also just got my Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set and was itching to try that as well. I actually did the bottom card for Backy first, but had so much fun paper piecing the cupcake that I wanted to do it again so I made this card for a friends birthday which also happens to be this weekend.
I used SCS Sketch Challenge #188. I stamped the sentiment on the lower right hand corner, but it is hard to see in the picture. I also used the Gelly Roll glitter pen on the sprinkles and the cupcake wrapper. The cupcake & candle were paper pieced using SU designer paper. The smaller purple triangles are scrap papers I am not sure who made them. I thought it needed something to brighten it up, so I used the glitter pen on the background, once again it looks better in real life.
Materials Used: SU Paper: Designer series, Lovely Lilac, Lavender Lace, Very Vanilla; SU Ink; Basic Gray, Lovely Lilac; SU Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes

This was the first one I complete for Becky. I used a little too much pressure on the eyelets, but luckily I don't think she will mind.
Materials Used: SU Paper: Designer Series, Lovely Lilac, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla; SU Ink: Basic Gray, Lovely Lilac; SU Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes, Classic Stripes; Other: SU 1/4" Grosgrain Very Vanilla Ribbon, Gelly Roll Glitter Pen
Which is your favorite?

My Friends have great Candy!

I am drowning in Girl Scout forms, but I wanted to let you know about some blog candy my friends are giving away.

My friend Sarah (aka Sairabee) is giving away some nice blog candy on her blog Scrappin' Mama. Kate over at i {heart} papers has graciously given all of her design team members some candy to give away, and Sarah's my turn! You will win Inkadinkado's Christmas Characters stamp set, a bottle of Christmas Red Stickles, and three yards of this super cool metallic silver string. My friend Meredith is giving awaysome awesome BLOG CANDY courtesy of i {heart} papers. What's in it you ask??? You get 2 yards of hot pink ribbon, 5 sheets of 12x12 cupcake paper, AND one of these cute cupcake chipboard books. You can link to Meredith's blog by clicking here.

Version 2

So obviously this is the same concept as my previous post. I liked the layout, I just wasn't sure if monocromatic was the way to go. I changed out the Kiwi Kiss panel for a Riding Hood Red one and stamped it with Real Red. The Season's Greetings is also stamped in Real Red. You can't tell, but I did add the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen to the center of the tree snowflakes.

Materials Used: SU Stamps: Snow Swirled, SU Paper: Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red; SU Ink: Always Artichoke, Real Red; Other: Favorite Findings Twinkle, Twinkle Buttons, Celar Star Gelly Roll Pen.

I like this one much better, how about you?

It's about time...

to start on Christmas Cards. So this is my first sample. I really like this new set, Snow Swirled. It is simple yet elegant. I found the buttons at Joanns during their Columbus Day sale for 50% off and thought they would be the perfect tree topper. I did pierce the tiny strip of Old Olive, but it doesn't show well in the picture.
Materials Used: SU Stamps: Snow Swirled, SU Paper: Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Kiwi Kiss; SU Ink: Always Artichoke; Other: Favorite Findings Twinkle, Twinkle Buttons, paper piercer.
So, What do you think? Feel free to leave a comment and as always, Thanks for stopping by.

Construction Card

So I made this card awhile back for a kids card swap. I got it out because Ethan is going to his friends birthday party today. Ethan picked out some construction themed Lego sets for him, which makes this the perfect card to use.
I stamped the bulldozer with versamark on whisper white cardstock and embossed it with black embossing powder. I then brayered only orange over it. I like the effect.
I love adding stamps to the inside of the card. I think it ties it together nicely with the outside.

Materials Used: SU Stamps: Little Trucks; SU Paper: Glorious Green, Yoyo Yellow, Basic Black, Whisper White; SU Ink: Only Orange, Basic Black, Versamark Other: SU Black embossing powder, Cuttlebug Traffic Jam Embossing Folder.

Thanks for stopping by!
